Just this week, Arsenal announced the signing of Bologna’s Calafiori, an Italian defender, and most recently, they secured an agreement to sign Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino, their second star.

The London agent and Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino reached an agreement on the aforementioned transfer transaction this afternoon (July 31, Vietnam time), according to a report from Sports Zone. The deal will expire in the summer of 2028 after four years.

As a member of the Spanish squad that won Euro 2024, Mikel Merino, who is currently 28 years old, left a lasting impact with some really impressive performances. In particular, he scored the game-winning goal against Germany in the quarterfinals.

In the past, the Spanish player played in the Premier League for Newcastle United in 2017.

However, Merino later returned to Spain for a reported Β£10m transfer fee after a disappointing season with the Magpies.

At Real Sociedad, Mikel Merino seems to have found himself again when playing extremely well and is an important factor helping the La Liga club continuously win and get a ticket to play in the UEFA Champions League 2023/24.

The British media reports that Merino will be a good acquisition and a great asset to the Emirates midfield in the forthcoming 2024–2025 season, when the midfield of the Gunners is in dire need of both quality and quantity improvements.

In the summer transfer market of 2024, Mikel Arteta has progressively picked up his pace after a somewhat quiet start. The British media also anticipates that The Gunner will keep up its increased player recruitment efforts prior to the official start of the new season.
