If Nico Williams departs Athletic Club among ties to Arsenal and Chelsea, he would apparently want to join Barcelona.

 

 

Williams has had a great Euro 2024 with Spain and has been strongly connected with a summer transfer window departure from The Lions. Reportedly attracting the attention of Arsenal, Chelsea, and several other Premier League teams, he scored and collected an assist in the 4-1 victory over Georgia on Sunday.

 

 

 

 

 

One of the most highly rated young players in Europe right now, the 21-year-old scored eight goals and earned 19 assists in 37 games for Athletic in the 2023/24 season. On his contract, he has three years left with a £49.2 million release clause added in. Apparently among those showing interest are the Gunners and the Blues.

 

 

Sport & MD claims, meanwhile, that Barcelona is his preferred choice should he be able to get a move this summer. Williams reportedly finds appeal in his relationship with Spain team mates Pedri and Lamine Yamal. According to the report, Chelsea has been advised Williams prefers the Catalan side. Over a possible relocation to Barcelona, who placed second in La Liga last season, he is reported to be “crazy”.

 

With Liverpool’s Luis Diaz among the others suggested, the need to add another winger to their ranks keeps developing at Barcelona. Williams may negotiate a contract without having to sell Raphinha, who has been connected with a Premier League comeback.

 

 

Williams is supposed to be comfortable and happy at Athletic, wants not to go under a cloud, and is aware of the work the team has done for his brother Inaki. When Spain plays Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-final on Friday, Arsenal and Chelsea get the opportunity to have another look at Williams.
