Newcastle sign Barcelona winger Ferran Torres for €15m (approx. £12.8m), with the cash-strapped Spanish giants needing a further £160MILLION to break even under Financial Fair Play… and Raphinha could also leave the Nou Camp

In recent days, English club Newcastle United has reportedly submitted a transfer offer for Barcelona player Ferran Torres, however, this offer has been rejected by Barca.

According to sources in Spain, Barcelona are actively looking to sell some players to raise funds to carry out their own transfer activities. In this context, Newcastle has made a transfer offer for Ferran Torres for around 15 million euros, equivalent to 12.8 million pounds.

Ferran Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 for a transfer fee of up to 55 million euros. The Spaniard has had a difficult season at the Nou Camp, with inconsistent form and many injuries. Barca are now looking to cut their losses and find a way to liquidate Torres to recover some of the capital they spent.

Newcastle, one of the richest clubs in the world after being acquired by Saudi Arabia, is actively looking for quality contracts to strengthen its squad. Ferran Torres is considered a notable target of “Chich Choe” in this summer transfer window.

However, the price of 15 million euros offered by Newcastle does not seem to convince Barcelona. Barca is said to want to collect at least 20-25 million euros from the sale of Torres. This shows that the two clubs have not yet been able to find a common voice on the issue of transferring this player.

Ferran Torres is currently under contract with Barcelona until 2027. However, with Barca looking to improve their financial situation and strengthen their squad for the new season, the possibility of Torres leaving Camp Nou in the near future is very high.

If this deal is successful, Newcastle will have a young player with great potential and who has played for one of Europe’s top clubs. Torres is likely to become an important figure in Newcastle’s long-term squad building strategy.

However, the fact that the two clubs have not been able to reach an agreement on a price shows that there are still many obstacles ahead in the journey to recruit Torres. Both sides will need to continue negotiating to find common ground and complete this deal in the coming days.
