Kendal Calling has been headlined this week by the likes of Noel Gallager’s High Flying Birds, The Streets, Paolo Nutini and Sugababes.

Among the music icons has been former Manchester United full-back Neville.

The legend from Old Trafford grew accustomed to playing to over 70,000 fans every other week at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, earlier today, in a fully occupied tent, he was confronted with an even more terrifying situation.

As The Courteeners’ “Not Nineteen Forever” played, Neville could be seen heading a beach ball into the rammed crowd.

He also appeared to jig on the spot as he enjoyed the experience.

Neville admitted earlier this year that he had never DJ’d in his life.

He told Geoff Shreeves on his former Sky colleague’s podcast Football, Music and Me: “When I finished my football career, there were many things I did to put myself out of my comfort zone.

“I’m actually DJing with Tim at Kendal Calling, I mean… what the hell am I doing?

“I’m trying to wangle my way out of it, but I can’t once I’ve said yes to something.”

Quizzed if he had ever done anything similar in the past, he said: “Never in my life!”

Putting his mate at ease, Burgess said earlier this year: “I’m very excited about the prospect of DJing with Gary – he’s got great taste in music.

“The last time we shared a stage was when he joined The Charlatans on guitar.

“Can’t promise we’ll be doing any songs together but there might be an impromptu singalong at some point.”
