Signing 22-year-old goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal, Chelsea instantly flew the promising shot-stopper to the United States to start training with Enzo Maresca.
Considered as a perfect fit for Maresca’s approach, Jorgensen was in Atlanta for a session at Pace Academy following his Tuesday £21 million purchase.
Maresca wanted to add a fresh shot-stopper to his team to increase his bid to play out from the rear. Training has seen Chelsea’s goalkeepers participate in passing drills.’This is a dream come true,’ Jorgensen informed the club website.
Having signed for Chelsea, one of the most prestigious teams worldwide excites me. Getting to know everyone and beginning playing with all of my new colleagues excites me.Jorgensen’s signing marks a change for the club; Kepa Arrizabalaga will have to find a new home following his loan stint at Real Madrid.
Along with Robert Sanchez, Marcus Bettinelli, Lucas Bergstrom, and Eddie Beach—the goalkeepers Chelsea now employs—Djordje Petrovic might also depart. Petrovic bearing an injury was left at Cobham.
On August 18 Chelsea begins the new Premier League season at home to Manchester City.
They fell 4-1 to Celtic and have so far drawn 2-2 with Wrexham in pre-season; Club America will be visiting on Wednesday.
Chelsea: PSG Target’s Agent Breaks Silence Regarding Future Amid “Fantasy Transfers” Speculation
Talks on a move to Paris Saint-Germain have stagnated, hence Victor Osimhen’s future is still under flux. Rumours of a possible transfer to Chelsea are once more hot.
TeamTALK claims the 25-year-old is open to the notion of heading to PSG but willing to join Chelsea should they be able to negotiate with Napoli. Still, continuing at Napoli seems to be no more practical choice for him.
Furthermore, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, Osimhen is becoming restless and hopes Napoli will change his view on his release clause.
Roberto Calenda, Osimhen’s agent, broke his quiet and blasted down some of the ongoing reporting about his client based on speculations. Still, he did not directly mention any publications generating false information or clubs the Nigerian finds objectionable.
“I have read a lot of fantasy transfers about Victor, as if he were a package that could be delivered quickly,” Calenda commented (h/t Diario AS). “This bundle ranks highest among Napoli’s third Scudetto in terms of points. Respect and enough of the false information.
Having moved from Ligue 1’s LOSC Lille to Napoli, the Nigerian international has scored 76 goals in 133 games, including 65 goals in Serie A. Osimhen was also crucial in ensuring Napoli’s league title in the next two years.
