This summer, Barcelona could use the fact that Villarreal is interested in a number of Barcelona’s young players to bring in Álex Baena.
That’s what Diario Sport said, giving more information about the situation on Sunday.
It’s no secret that attacker Baena’s name has been at the top of the news in Catalunya’s city for a few weeks now.
It’s being said more and more that the 22-year-old player has been marked by Barcelona’s leaders as a possible summer signing.
Baena, on the other hand, is having a great season with Villarreal. He has set up 17 goals across all divisions, which is a huge number.
This kind of imagination would be a big plus for Xavi’s Barcelona team, and the fact that Catalunya doesn’t have a player like this right now makes Baena a very appealing target.
What’s wrong with the Blaugrana, though, is the price.
The player’s deal at La Cerámica has a release clause of around €60 million, which the Camp Nou hierarchy can’t pay because they are short on cash.
Sport, on the other hand, says that Barcelona could try to lower this number to a more manageable level by adding some of the club’s finest young players.
It is said that Villarreal is keeping a close eye on a few of the newest La Masia stars. It’s possible that one or two of these players could be used as part of a deal to bring Baena in for next season.
