Liverpool have asked about the availability of Italy international forward Federico Chiesa of Juventus. Chiesa is in the final year of his contract at the Serie A side and is understood to be available for around £13million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have contacted Juventus to sign Federico Chiesa. The Italian club are willing to sell and Chiesa also wants to play in the Premier League. Liverpool are considering the terms of the deal with Chiesa.
The player, who is 27 in October, has fallen out of favour under new Juventus head coach Thiago Motta and failed to make the squad for the team’s first two league games of the season
Throughout his career, which began at Fiorentina and ended with four years at Juventus, Chiesa has played in a number of attacking positions, but he is most often found on the wings.
Liverpool is currently debating whether to submit a formal bid for the Italian, who would presumably challenge Mohamed Salah for the right flank spot.
With players up top like Salah, Jota, Gakpo, Nunez, and Diaz, Liverpool already has plenty of firepower, but adding Chiesa gives them even more.
The idea of adding Chiesa’s speed and directness to this Liverpool side is something that should excite the Anfield faithful.
It is understood Chiesa is one of several players the Reds are tracking as they consider whether to strengthen their squad ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline. Any arrival would be to bolster the current senior forward options and not replace an existing one.
Because of cruciate ligament injuries, Chiesa missed a large portion of 2022. However, he played four times for Italy at the European Championships earlier this summer and made 37 appearances for Juventus in all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals and dishing out three assists.
After completing a physical in Spain on Monday, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool’s first significant signing under Arne Slot, is almost complete.
The Georgian goalkeeper will play this season for the La Liga team before making his formal move to Anfield in the summer once the Reds and Valencia reach a £30 million deal.
