Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Chelsea continued their discussions on Wednesday in an attempt to come to a pay deal.
Chelsea may have a busy transfer window as the Blues are also eyeing Benfica center-back Tomas Araujo in case they need to make a defensive trade.
The Blues were connected to the Nigerian striker for the whole of the summer, and Al-Ahli, a Saudi Pro League team, made the first offer of £55 million for Osimhen.
When it comes to a transaction involving Osimhen, Chelsea would prefer a loan with a buyout clause rather than an outright acquisition.
Both Napoli and Osimhen have hinted that they would be prepared to drop their demands in order to close a deal before the window closes.
In an effort to reach an agreement on Victor Osimhen’s pay, Chelsea and he have had more negotiations.
The team led by Enzo Maresca is keen to complete Osimhen’s transfer before the deadline.
The Blues are also thinking about signing 22-year-old Tomas Araujo, a center defender for Benfica.
Osimhen, a Nigerian international, has 76 goals in 133 games with Napoli.
Araujo is a former Benfica academy graduate who has played under-21 international duty for Portugal.
In addition to his 27 appearances for Benfica, he was on loan at Gil Vicente in the past.
