Spain have two important UEFA Nations League matches in their upcoming international fixtures. Spain will face Serbia on September 6, followed by a clash with Switzerland on September 9. However, just before the matches, La Roja received bad news when midfielder Fermin Lopez suffered a muscle injury and was forced to withdraw from the squad.
According to information from the Spanish Football Federation, Fermin Lopez will return to Barcelona for further examination on the injury. Barcelona fans are currently very worried and waiting for the results of the scan from the club’s medical team.
Notably, this is not the only injury that Barcelona has faced this season. Previously, the team lost three important players including Andreas Christensen, Ansu Fati and Marc Bernal.
Among these, Marc Bernal’s case is the most serious when this player tore his cruciate ligament and had to sit out the rest of the 2024/25 season.
In addition to Fermin Lopez, Barcelona are also struggling without key players such as Gavi, Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo. De Jong and Gavi have both been injured since last season, while Araujo was injured while playing in the 2024 Copa America.
However, there is some optimism as Ansu Fati has started training again in recent days, and the Barcelona No. 10 is expected to be back after the international break. Frenkie de Jong is also expected to return at a similar time, while Gavi and Christensen may have to wait until November or December to return to action.
With a heavy injury list, Barcelona are facing a major challenge in maintaining their form and competing in important competitions. Barcelona fans and the coaching staff are hoping that key players will recover and return to the pitch soon, helping the team overcome this difficult period.
