Two young Barcelona players, Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal, have both been shortlisted for the prestigious Kopa Trophy.
The Kopa Trophy will be awarded in October at the Ballon d’Or ceremony and is awarded to the best U21 player in the world.
Pau Cubarsi and Yamal have both been nominated after stellar seasons for both club and country, joining other young stars such as Saviho, Alejandro Garnacho and Warren Zaire-Emery on the shortlist.
Lamine Yamal is the favourite for the award and if he does, he will follow in the footsteps of club teammates Pedri and Gavi, who have both won the award in the past.
Yamal is a strong candidate for this year’s Kopa Trophy.
The 17-year-old star has become a key player for club and country Spain over the past 12 months.
He was a key member of La Roja’s bid to win EURO 2024 , while Pau Cubarsi also had a successful summer and won men’s football gold at the Paris Olympics with the Spanish Olympic team.
Last year the Kopa Trophy went to Jude Bellingham , but this year the England star has been shortlisted for the Ballon d’Or.
