START AGAIN: Man Utd squad show determination as they return to training to prepare for Southampton clash but without Ugarte

With September’s internationals at an end, the Manchester United squad has regrouped at Carrington under the watchful eye of Erik ten Hag.

The Reds have a short turnaround as they play their first Premier League match after the break on Saturday afternoon against Southampton.

United has the chance to get behind its losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool and establish a positive statement ahead of a hectic stretch of fixtures that will include seven games in 22 days across three competitions.

Several players who were involved for their countries during the past week were photographed on Thursday, including Bruno Fernandes, who made his 600th career appearance as Portugal secured a 2-1 victory over Scotland.

Like Fernandes, who scored the Selecao’s equaliser in Lisbon, Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee have also been in the goals and were present at the session, alongside summer signings Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez were also spotted, despite Argentina’s World Cup qualifier in Colombia only finishing late on Tuesday, with the likes of Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans – who recently retired from international football – part of the group too.

Toby Collyer, who is also shown in the gallery, is excited to add to his two outings this season after putting himself to the test against Liverpool and Manchester City in the Community Shield.

Manuel Ugarte, who only returned from Uruguay on Thursday, was one player who did not take part.

However, in his press conference, Ten Hag said that the Uruguayan would be available to potentially make his debut on the south coast.
