Paris Saint-Germain reportedly has its eyes on FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. However, the club’s sporting director, Deco, set the record straight over the Dutchman’s future with the Spanish side.
A Spanish media outlet has recently disclosed that PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United are closely monitoring the developments between Barcelona and de Jong.
According to the latest update from SPORT, PSG has expressed interest in acquiring de Jong, with indications suggesting they are prepared to offer €60 million for his services.
However, Deco clarified to Movistar reporters that there are no plans to sell Ronald Araujo or Frenkie De Jong. Despite recent speculation, the club is not currently contemplating any significant sales.
“What will happen with Araujo and De Jong? Nothing will happen,” Deco told Movistar (h/t SPORT). “They have a contract, and we want to keep the best. And they are the best. They are footballers of the present and the future. They are players who have earned the right to be at Barça and earned the respect of the fans and the club. We want to continue counting on them.”
In a recent article, The Athletic compiled a list of players the Ligue 1 side should consider pursuing as they enter the post-Mbappé era. The former Ajax player is seen as an ideal fit for manager Luis Enrique’s system.
