Al Shorta vs Al Nassr results, AFC Champions League group stage – On the day superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could not be in the squad, Al Nassr had to share points at Al Shorta’s home ground in the AFC Champions League opening match.

 

On the night of September 16 (Vietnam time), Al Nassr traveled to Al Shorta’s home field in a match within the framework of the AFC Champions League.

Without the services of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, Al Nassr still showed superiority as they took the initiative in the first minutes.

Before the match had even reached a third of the first half, the visitors had opened the scoring, and the scorer was right-back Sultan Al Ghannam, who held the captain’s armband for Ronaldo, after a diagonal shot that gave goalkeeper Al Shorta no chance to block.

With an early goal, it seemed that coach Luis Castro’s team would easily dominate the game, however, their complacency made them pay the price.

In the 24th minute, a lack of coordination between Al Nassr’s central defenders created favorable conditions for striker Mohammed Dawood to face and decisively finish off goalkeeper Bento, bringing the match back to the starting line.

Not stopping there, the away team continued to show confusion when they received a penalty kick in the 40th minute after a foul in the penalty area. However, after consulting VAR, the referee withdrew the intention to blow the penalty, because the foul occurred outside the penalty area.

This was also the last notable situation before the two teams entered the break.

In the remaining 45 minutes, the two teams could not maintain the fast pace of play compared to the first half. The match was constantly delayed by fouls, and the biggest mark was the situations where the referee pulled out yellow cards for players of both teams.

In the end, Al Nassr was held to a 1-1 draw at Al Shorta’s home ground, and both teams had to settle for just one point.
