GARY NEVILLE has joined up with indie rockers The Reytons – claiming to be their new bass player.
The former Man Utd right back posed with the Yorkshire band as they prepare to hit the road in 2025.
Gary Neville has joined up with The Reytons to promote their new tour
Neville showed off his dance moves during his band audition
The 49-year-old admitted he’d never played the bass before
Neville is taking the place of bassist Lee Holland, who is out of action with a broken arm.
The Rotherham rockers are preparing for a UK tour next year to promote their new album.
And they shared a video of Neville’s audition for the group as they searched for Holland’s replacement.
In the clip, Neville told the band: “If Lee can play for The Reytons, then so can I.”
During the audition, the Sky Sports commentator was tested on his dancing skills and asked how quickly he could down a pint.
Prior to triumphing over a salad in a blind taste test and snatching a greaseburger lunch, he was also put to the test in the game Higher or Lower.
Following his trial, lead singer Jonny Yerrell told Neville: “You’ve literally ticked every box there pal.
“But I think the only question is now, you know, what’re you actually like on bass?”
A sheepish Neville replied: “I’ve never played bass in my life.”
Yerrell immediately hit back with a smile: “You’re in.”
One fan responded on X: “This is absolutely class chaps.”
Another laughed: “This is the best video I have ever seen.”
Fans dreaming of the ex-Three Lions star hitting the stage with the band may be disappointed come next year.
In the full press release, a disclaimer added: “Gary Neville may or may not be actually joining The Reytons.”
Neville performed on the Kendal Calling music festival last month, which is when the incident took place.
He performed with Manchester music icon Tim Burgess for 40,000 partygoers.
However, Neville acknowledged before the performance that he felt totally uncomfortable working as a DJ for the day.
He told the Football, Music and Me podcast: “When I finished my football career, there were many things I did to put myself out of my comfort zone.
“I’m actually DJing with Tim at Kendal Calling, I mean, what the hell am I doing?’ I’m trying to wangle my way out of it, but I can’t once I’ve said yes to something.
“Obviously Tim has [played] thousands of times, I’ll just be accompanying him. I’m worried about what I actually have to do, to be honest.”
In February 2025, the O2 Academy Brixton in London will host the start of the Reytons Right Back At It tour.
The band will perform at Birmingham, Manchester, Blackpool, Newcastle, Dublin, and Bournemouth.
