THROWBACK: Mason Mount is back in England for a Make-A-Wish event and is enjoying a day off with his family.

Mason Mount took a break from his summer vacation to participate in a charity event with Make-A-Wish UK last week.

The Chelsea and England midfielder, who has been at the center of intense transfer rumors this summer, made time in his schedule to attend the event at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire. He was joined by presenter and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh.

Mount and Walsh interacted with children facing life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families, thanks to Disney’s collaboration with the charity. The 24-year-old was seen spending quality time with the children and mingling with Disney characters, including Mickey Mouse.

This charity appearance comes amid ongoing negotiations between Chelsea and Manchester United regarding Mount’s future. With his Chelsea contract set to expire at the end of next season, discussions over a new deal have been contentious, and Mount has yet to agree to terms.

Mail Sport has previously reported that there is a contract dispute between Mount and Chelsea, with a significant gap in negotiations. The England international, who was Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, is reportedly seeking to triple his £80,000-a-week salary to match other senior players and new signings. However, the club has been unwilling to meet these demands, and despite Mauricio Pochettino’s desire to retain him, a new deal seems unlikely in the near future.

Liverpool and Arsenal were initially considered potential destinations for Mount this summer, but both clubs withdrew from the race due to rising transfer costs. Manchester United emerged as the leading candidate, but their three bids have been rejected, with the latest offer of £55m turned down by Chelsea last week.

United believe their valuation is fair given Mount’s contract situation and his interest in moving to Old Trafford. However, Chelsea has indicated they would only accept an offer of £58m plus an additional £7m in add-ons, leading to a deadlock. As a result, United have shifted their focus to alternative targets, including Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. Nevertheless, a resolution might still be possible if Mount remains eager for the move.

After his participation in the Make-A-Wish event, Mount expressed his satisfaction with the experience. He stated: “The work that Make-A-Wish does for children and their families is incredible, and this collaboration with Disney was really special. It was great to spend time with the families, join in the fun, and help create some lasting memories. It has been a real privilege to be involved.”
