Amid doubts about Enzo Maresca’s “experience,” Chelsea head coach Carlo Ancelotti makes a prediction
When BlueCo chose to replace Mauricio Pochettino as head coach this summer with Leicester City’s manager, the football world was taken aback.
Football analyst Jamie Carragher, a stalwart of Liverpool, exclusively told Metro.co.uk, “That was probably the biggest shock I had [last] season.”
“I was unable to accept it.” That choice is absurd. But it’s just one more absurd choice Chelsea has made in a long line of dumb ones.
Since then, a lot of Chelsea supporters have voiced their worries about Maresca’s inexperience in front of the 2024–25 Premier League season.
After a dismal spell in Italy’s second division, Serie B, with Parma, Leicester was only his second position as a first-team manager.
However, Ancelotti has downplayed Maresca’s inexperience and asserted that, following his outstanding work behind the scenes at Manchester City, the Italian will “do well” at Chelsea.”Our work does not revolve around experience,” Ancelotti stated on John Obi Mikel’s Obi One Podcast.
“It is a component of our work, but knowledge is, of course, the most important component.”In addition, his past work with Pep Guardiola and Leicester City gives me confidence that he possesses the skills necessary to lead and succeed at Chelsea.
During his tenure at Stamford Bridge, Ancelotti became the first Italian manager to win the Premier League.
Currently leading Real Madrid, the 65-year-old is widely regarded as one of the finest managers in all of football.
Having won the trophy five times, he is the most successful manager in Champions League history.
