Marcus Rashford’s quick feet were at the heart of Manchester United’s early strike against FC Porto – but the Portuguese giants quickly hit back against the Red Devils
Manchester United took a deserved lead in their important Europa League clash against FC Porto thanks to the neat footwork of Marcus Rashford.
Rashford grabbed his fourth goal of the season
The 26-year-old turned back time with a blistering run down the left flank beating several men before cutting inside to beat Porto keeper Diogo Costa at his near post. One fan described it as “perfect”, with another posting on X: “Just when you write him off he pulls another master goal.”
Rashford has been criticised for his lack of quality in recent seasons but has scored four in this campaign proving he’s well a truly back at the top of his game.
If his off-the-field antics don’t get the better of him then he can be a key starter for boss Erik ten Hag who is under mounting pressure to keep his job at Old Trafford.
A victory is much-needed today since United’s first Europa League matchup at home against FC Twente ended in a tie.
Although the visitors may be under a lot of strain, Porto too needs to win after falling short 3-2 to Bodo/Glimt in their opening match.
