After winning the Supporters’ Shield, Inter Miami could be selected by FIFA to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Messi’s Inter Miami qualified for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
On October 3, Inter Miami played the most important match of the season against Columbus Crew. Lionel Messi scored a brace to help his team win 3-2, thereby officially winning the Supporters Shield.
A day later, reputable journalist Ben Jacobs reported that Inter Miami will be awarded a spot in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, the 32nd edition of the world club tournament.
Also according to Ben Jacobs: “The selection of Inter Miami Club to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup is supported by many people, because this is the team that is at the top of the rankings after the MLS round of points. Choosing this team would be fairer, instead of the MLS Cup champion after the play-off round.
Not to mention, the MLS Cup playoffs will not end until December 7, which will make the 2025 Club World Cup draw difficult. FIFA plans to hold the draw for this tournament earlier.”
The United States is the host country, Inter Miami was chosen which means they are the last representative to participate in the tournament with Messi participating, the tournament will attract a large number of fans to the stadium to watch the matches.
The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup marks the first time that 32 teams will participate with clubs from all over the world.
The last time Lionel Messi attended the FIFA Club World Cup was in 2015, when the star striker was still playing for Barcelona.
Inter Miami have now won the Supporters Shield, their next target is to compete for the MLS title and if successful, will surely qualify for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
