Inter Miami were the better team with more possession. However, Toronto created more chances with 11 shots, while Messi’s team only had one shot. The first half ended goalless.

It wasn’t until the second half that Inter Miami started to look more dangerous with clear chances. In the 61st minute, coach Martino decided to bring Busquets and Messi on, and 10 minutes later, striker Luis Suarez was also given a chance. Toronto was not easily defeated as they stubbornly kept a clean sheet throughout the regular match.
