Sadio Mané, a forward for Bayern Munich and the brand’s ambassador, will be the star of a modern, carefully understated shoe campaign for New Balance’s 2023 Grey Day celebrations. The campaign is based on the company’s signature grey colours, which never go out of style.
New Balance has stuck with its grey shoes, which were once seen as a versatile colour scheme that worked well on the asphalt running tracks of the 1970s. Today, it has a thoughtful and elegant form that fits a wide range of fashion and sports styles.
Mané is featured in the latest BSTN campaign, which is focused on a “no frills, no fuss” attitude, wearing the versatile New Balance 550 from the varied “Moon Daze” pack. He appears in the images outfitted in a gilet puffer and sweatsuit that go well with the sneaker’s gray-blue components, trading in his football uniform for more subdued clothing.
Though the store is well recognized to have ties to the hue family and often employs polished tones in lookbooks and shop designs, gray is still vital to the New Balance brand. The ad uses images of Mané facing a white background that switches between full-color and grayscale. This is a part of BSTN’s continuous investigation into creative color theory.
