Remo Freuler gave the hosts the lead just before the half-hour mark. They had the advantage, but it was fleeting as Denmark tied the score a minute later.

Eriksen reacted quickly, winning a quick free-kick to send up Gustav Isaksen, who scored easily, with goaltender Gregor Kobel at his mercy.

Zeki Amdouni then scored from the penalty spot to guarantee that Switzerland was ahead going into the tunnel. Eriksen made sure that the rewards were shared between the two teams in the 69th minute of play by being in the right spot at the right moment to smash the ball into the net.

It’s certainly great to see Eriksen enjoying his renaissance both at club and international levels. He shared the pitch with United teammate and fellow countryman Rasmus Hojlund.

However, unlike Eriksen, Hojlund didn’t have the greatest of games and was taken off after 57 minutes.

The striker had 17 touches of the ball and successfully delivered 10 passes. He managed just one shot, which required Kobel to swing into immediate action.

The United forward prevailed in the lone ground battle he engaged in.

Eriksen and Hojlund’s focus is now solely on the club’s next Saturday matchup at Old Trafford against Brentford.
