In Argentina’s 6-0 win over Bolivia on October 16 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Lionel Messi scored his 57th career hat-trick.
Exactly 4 days later, Messi scored another hat-trick to help Inter Miami defeat New England Revolution 6-2 in the US Major League Soccer (MLS). Notably, the Argentine superstar scored 3 goals in this match within only 11 minutes (from minute 78 to 89).
The win helped Inter Miami close the season with their highest ever MLS points tally of 74, surpassing the previous record held by the Revolution since 2021.
According to statistics this season, Inter Miami has an incredible winning percentage of 76.5%. Breaking the record of 75% set by DC United and LA Galaxy in 1998. Additionally, Inter Miami is proud to be the eighth team in MLS history to complete a season with only four losses.
In addition to this historic achievement, Messi’s Inter Miami also received good news when they were officially invited to participate in the 2025 Club World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the news as follows: “I am proud to announce that as one of the best clubs in the world, you (Inter Miami) deserve to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as the host club”.
