Athletic Club forward Nico Williams was the subject of transfer rumors this summer, particularly with Barcelona interested in acquiring the Spain international. Ultimately, Williams opted to remain with Athletic Club for the 2024-25 season.

“His performance has been remarkable, and I believe he’s proven himself as the best player in the European Championships,” Félix Tainta and Juan Oyaga told AS.

“There’s been a lot of activity and travel, and while the end of the transfer window can be stressful, we enjoy it. The young man chose to stay; he wanted to dedicate another year to developing his skills.”

Williams will continue with Athletic for the upcoming season, but speculation about a potential transfer could resurface next summer, with Barcelona expected to renew their interest.

 

His agents confirmed that the 21-year-old decided to stay in the Basque Country for another year, yet rumors indicate that Barcelona may pursue Williams again next year, setting the stage for a new transfer narrative.
