Omar Marmoush, a target for Liverpool, donned a grotesque Halloween mask following his goal in Eintracht Frankfurt’s victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
WHAT OCCURRED?The Egyptian international scored the game-winning goal 20 minutes from the end of their DFB Pokal second-round match on Wednesday after coming off the bench with the score tied at one. The 25-year-old put on a mask with fake blood on it as he spun away in celebration for 10-man Frankfurt as they advanced to the competition’s third round.THE LARGER IMAGE.After scoring 10 goals in 12 games for the Bundesliga team this season, Marmoush has been linked to a move to Liverpool. His contract expires in 2027, and if he keeps up his current level of play, the German team will have a good negotiating position for any future transfers.Because of his Egyptian-Canadian parents, who spent six years in Canada, Marmoush is a citizen of Canada. The forward started playing football with Wadi Degla’s youth academy when they moved to Cairo, where Marmoush was reared.
