And one of the first jobs for the new arrival will be to hold discussions with Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has steadied the ship for the incoming boss since Ten Hag’s departure.
Van Nistelrooy, who made over 200 appearances for United as a player, acted as United’s interim boss in Ten Hag’s absence – leading the club to three wins and one draw in his four games in charge.
Amorim explained after last night’s game that he is set for crunch talks with the Dutchman over his role at Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Amorim’s first move as Man Utd manager was to meet and greet the team’s staff. But the Portuguese coach cannot carry out the duties of a head coach, including directing training sessions, until Man Utd completes the procedures related to work permits.
In the meantime, Amorim will get used to the new environment and Man Utd players who were not called up to the team for this FIFA Days, including the trio of English stars Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo.
After that, on November 24, the 39-year-old will coach his first game, an away trip against Ipswich Town.
