Rashford was axed from the England squad by Lee Carsley and the 27-year-old headed to New York to watch the New York Knicks face off against the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA Cup.
He enjoyed a premium courtside seat at the iconic Madison Square Garden for the thrilling match, which saw the Knicks secure a dramatic 124-122 victory over their cross-town rivals.
However, not all Manchester United supporters were pleased with his trip. Rashford has faced criticism this season for underwhelming performances on the pitch, and his presence at the NBA game drew ire from sections of the fanbase, as they called for the forward to prioritise improving his form for United rather than watching basketball.
And the boyhood United star appears keen to ensure he stays in the team under Amorim after posting a picture of himself training on his own at an unknown facility.
Rashford was seen sitting on a treadmill in the middle of a fitness room, with boxing apparatus and other equipment seen around him. Reports have suggested the player was attending Nike’s official headquarters.
He has had a contract with the sportswear giant since the age of 11 and recently extended terms with the company in 2021 after reports he could move over to rivals Puma.
Rashford will return to United next week when the rest of his team-mates return from international duty, hoping to slot into Amorim’s set up – with the 39-year-old coach set to deploy his usual 3-4-3 formation.
