Before the League of Nations match between Croatia and Portugal, Luka Modrić received another valuable recognition and thus showed what kind of status he actually has in the Croatian public.
For Modrić, age is just a number and it shows from game to game. Although there are 39 of them, he is still able to play two very physically demanding matches in the space of a few days.
On Friday night, he led the Flames against the Scots at Hampden Park, while on Monday he will run onto the field of Poljuda with the captain’s armband around his arm.
At the press conference before the match, Modrić was presented with a new award, as he was named the best Croatian player in 2024.
“This means a lot to me because it comes from a fan and it’s always a special pleasure when it comes from a fan. It’s always a little different and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
On that occasion, Modrić also received a check for 10,000 euros, and it has already been decided that the money will end up in a humanitarian association chosen by the Real star.
