The Manchester United and England midfielder arrived at GQ Men of the Year in his super villain best. Made of a high-shine black leather, the two-piece consisted of a shirt-jacket top with matching wide-leg trousers.
Continuing Hollywood’s ongoing rebellion against the traditional shirt, Mainoo wore a white vest under the shirt, and added a pair of the brand’s iconic intrecciato leather shoes.
Of course, when wearing one colour head to toe, there’s always the danger of your fit coming off one-note. A danger artfully side-stepped by Mainoo, who relied on texture to keep things interesting. Between the subtle shine of the leather and the woven style of his shoes, the look comes off clean and polished — not unlike his passing ability.
Mainoo, 19, and his England teammate Cole Palmer—who is dressed in Burberry, which is usually icy—are celebrating. The two pay homage to this year’s stunning roster of honorees in London’s Roof Gardens alongside Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and Central Cee, who are also Men of the Year cover stars.
