Adidas and the Association of South American Football (AFA) have released a limited-edition uniform to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their collaboration in 1974. On November 20, the new uniform will be used against Peru.
Fifty years ago, adidas first became a sponsor of the Argentina national team. This enduring partnership has spanned, with only a few short breaks, five decades and is steeped in history, including two of the team’s three World Cup victories.
The kit features a retro design inspired by the kit worn by Argentina in 1974, with its traditional blue and white vertical stripes. For added nostalgia, the iconic trefoil and AFA crest from the mid-1970s are printed in gold on the chest, symbolising the team’s achievements over the years.
