In the early match of round 19 of La Liga, Real Madrid disappointed when they lost 1-2 to Bilbao at San Mames Stadium in the early morning of December 5 on the day Mbappe missed a penalty.

After a series of successful matches, Real Madrid are determined to win against Bilbao to keep up with the leaders Barcelona. However, San Mames is a stadium that always makes every opponent afraid, especially under coach Ernesto Valverde.

Real Madrid fielded an attacking lineup with Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Mbappe. On Bilbao’s side, Nico Williams was the most dangerous player. The match was exciting, with both teams pushing their formations up to attack.

In the 4th minute, goalkeeper Courtois had to show his talent to block a dangerous shot from Nico Williams. 10 minutes later, Rodrygo fell in the Bilbao penalty area after being tackled by Gorosabel, but the referee did not award a penalty.

Shortly after, Mbappe ‘s goal against Bilbao was disallowed. In the 30th minute, Inaki Williams made a beautiful backheel pass, but Berenguer’s shot went over the crossbar in a favorable position.

The second half started 8 minutes ago. Berenguer took advantage of the opportunity to score from close range after goalkeeper Courtois struggled to block Nico Williams’ cross, opening the score 1-0 for Bilbao. Real Madrid pushed up the formation and in the 68th minute they were awarded a penalty when Rudiger was fouled by goalkeeper Agirrezabala.

However, goalkeeper Agirrezabala made an excellent save from Mbappe’s penalty kick. In the 78th minute, Agirrezabala failed to catch Mbappe’s long-range shot, allowing Bellingham to rush in and level the score at 1-1 for Real Madrid.

However, just two minutes later, Federico Valverde lost the ball in midfield and super sub Guruzeta quickly took advantage with a tricky finish, sealing a 2-1 victory for Bilbao.

The home win helped Bilbao extend their unbeaten streak this season to 10 matches, while Real Madrid lost steam in the La Liga title race with Barcelona.
