Barcelona is reportedly eyeing a move for Liverpool’s star winger, Luis Diaz, despite both clubs facing challenges with financial fair play (FFP). The 27-year-old Colombian, a long-time Barcelona fan, has been linked with a potential transfer to the Nou Camp, a move that would fulfill his ambition.
Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, and recent reports suggest that Liverpool, who initially set a £64 million price tag on Diaz, may be willing to lower their asking price to £51 million, which could pave the way for the move.
Spanish author Pipe Sierra claims that Barcelona and Liverpool have resumed negotiations regarding the winger’s signing. It is believed that the player has a £50 million release clause.
He says that in order to close the transaction, they will use transfer money that was initially intended for Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao.
He does, however, add that in order to avoid FFP issues, the two teams might work out a trade.
It’s unknown from Barcelona’s point of view which players could be involved.
The team as a whole, excluding the so-called untouchables (Pau Cubarsi, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen), was reportedly up for sale in June, according to reports.
After Arne Slot’s team rejected Martin Zubimendi, they are searching for a new midfield player.

This might lead to them pursuing long-term Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong, however his exorbitant salary may pose an issue for the Anfield club, which has previously been unwilling to violate its wage structure.
De Jong is reportedly earning a stunning £400,000 per week right now.
