Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make a significant investment in Barcelona defender Jules Kounde during the January transfer window.
While the Gunners are enjoying a solid Premier League season, they remain six points behind leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand.
After solidifying their squad in the summer with permanent moves for David Raya and signings like Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori, along with loans for Raheem Sterling and Neto, Arsenal’s progress has been hindered by injuries and inconsistent performances from their new arrivals.
Determined to strengthen further, Mikel Arteta is focusing on additions in January to bolster their title ambitions. Reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are prepared to offer €75m (£62m) for Kounde, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta reportedly ready to approve the deal as the French defender appears set to depart Camp Nou.
Kounde’s form has raised concerns at Barcelona, leading club officials to consider offers. Arteta believes Kounde could be a transformative addition to the squad, with Barcelona open to selling him for the right price, particularly given doubts about his future role under Hansi Flick. If the offer materializes, Barcelona seem poised to accept and facilitate his departure without delay.
