Vinicius Junior was voted Men’s Best Player of the Year at the Globe Soccer Awards, capping off a remarkable 2024 for the Real Madrid star.
During the ceremony, Cristiano Ronaldo, speaking passionately about the Brazilian, insisted the Brazilian should have won the Ballon d’Or as well.
Taking the stage after his idol, Los Blancos no.7 didn’t hold back, saying, “If Cristiano says I am the best, then I am the best.”
“It is a pleasure to be here with my idol Cristiano and also Neymar.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has fired a shot at the Ballon d’Or by criticising the credibility of the historic awards ceremony.
Ronaldo labelled Vinicius Jr as the best player in the world while praising the credibility of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards on Friday.
Ronaldo said: ‘Vinicius Jr should have won the Ballon d’Or, in my opinion it was clear.
‘It was unfair. This is why I love Globe Soccer Awards, they are honest.’
Backing up his words with performances on the pitch, Vini has been in sensational form this season, recording 22 goal contributions in 20 matches for his club — and showing no signs of slowing down.
