Liverpool cruised to another Premier League victory against West Ham United, with Michael Owen highlighting a trio of players who, in his view, are performing better than ever.
The Reds delivered a dominant display, dismantling the Hammers in the first half with goals from Mo Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota added to the scoreline, cementing Liverpool’s position at the top of the table as they head into the New Year looking every bit like champions elect.
Liverpool’s attacking trio is wreaking havoc, and after all three scored today, Owen remarked that Salah, Gakpo, and Diaz are enjoying the best form of their careers.
Michael Owen identifies three Liverpool players in peak form
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen shared his thoughts on the trio of forwards who started the match.
According to him, Salah, Gakpo, and Diaz are all playing the best football of their lives.
“I think he’s playing his way into the starting XI. If there was the biggest game of the season tomorrow I think he’d be in it now, which is not something I’ve said during his time at the club,” Owen said.
“He’s playing particularly well, scoring plenty of goals. But you know what, the three players who have got those shirts at the moment, Diaz, Salah and Gakpo are probably in the form of their life.
“All three of them are probably playing at this moment as good as they have ever done in a Liverpool shirt.”
Liverpool have a title winning trio up front
All the best teams who win trophies and league titles either have a share of the goals throughout the forward players or a player who scores more than 30 themselves.
Liverpool happen to have both.
Mo Salah is now on 20 for the season, while Cody Gakpo has hit double figures and Luis Diaz is getting there as well.
With Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez backing them up and the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Szoboszlai also contributing, Liverpool are well on their way to another title.
If they do win it, then the trio of Salah, Gakpo and Diaz will have been key.
