Rúben Amorim is reportedly pushing for Manchester United to sign striker Viktor Gyökeres immediately to address their attacking concerns.
According to The Daily Star, the Manchester United manager is so alarmed by the team’s lack of firepower that he wants to make significant moves in the January transfer window rather than wait until summer. Gyökeres has been in sensational form, notably scoring a hat-trick in Sporting’s 4-1 Champions League rout of Manchester City two months ago.
Sporting would consider selling the Swedish forward for around £62 million to £70 million at the end of the season, but a firm offer this month might require United to pay upwards of £80 million to secure the 25-year-old.
In addition to bolstering the attack, Amorim could look to strengthen the defense, particularly at left-back. Manchester United have been linked with Benfica’s Álvaro Fernández, though his £25 million buy-back clause does not activate until next summer.
Meanwhile, Antony appears to be on his way out after struggling to justify his £86 million price tag. Former club Ajax, along with Fenerbahce and Real Betis, are reportedly monitoring the Brazilian winger, with a January loan move being a strong possibility for the 24-year-old.

Gyokeres, 6, is under contract at Sporting Lisbon until 0 8 with a release clause of around £80million.
It’s understood Amorim would be prepared to offload both Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee in a major shake-up of his attacking options.
And Gyokeres is regarded as the man he most craves to replace them.
The Sweden star has hit a staggering 6 goals in 4 matches this season.
