Ruben Amorim shed light on Marcus Rashford’s absence from Manchester United’s squad for their clash against Liverpool, clarifying that it was not due to disciplinary reasons.
The 27-year-old forward, who recently expressed a desire to leave the club, was left out of multiple matchday squads last month before returning to the bench for United’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle. However, Rashford was notably absent again for the Anfield trip.
Rashford, United’s highest earner, has been vocal about seeking a “new challenge,” with reports suggesting AC Milan is interested in a potential loan deal during the January transfer window.
Addressing his latest omission, Amorim stated that Rashford’s absence was due to an illness that caused him to miss training sessions, ruling him out for selection. The manager emphasized that this decision was unrelated to disciplinary matters.
