Marcus Rashford’s agent has reportedly traveled to Italy to discuss potential loan options with AC Milan, as the Manchester United winger becomes increasingly open to a change. According to reports, Rashford’s brother, Dwaine, has held preliminary talks with Milan regarding a possible loan for the 27-year-old this January.

Discussions are still in the early stages, especially as Milan’s senior executives were returning from a recent trip to Riyadh, where they witnessed their team come back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat rivals Inter 3-2 in the Italian Super Cup.

Milan’s management is currently weighing whether to make an offer for Rashford, but any potential deal is likely to be a loan, with United required to cover a significant portion of his £350,000-a-week wages. Juventus has already ruled out a move for Rashford due to concerns over his salary, despite their interest in the player.

Interestingly, Milan’s senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed admiration for Rashford, having played alongside him at Manchester United from 2016 to 2018. Additionally, there are rumors that Rashford could be part of a swap deal involving Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who has been in prolific form since his unexpected loan to Galatasaray.

Rashford has found himself sidelined by United manager Ruben Amorim and has indicated that he is “ready for a new challenge.” As Milan explores opportunities in the winter transfer market, they have recently made managerial changes, replacing Paulo Fonseca with Sergio Conceicao.

While Milan has several players capable of playing in Rashford’s preferred position—such as Portugal’s Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic—this means Rashford would face significant competition for a starting role. Leao’s impactful performance in the Super Cup final and Pulisic’s strong season further complicate Rashford’s potential path to regular playtime at the club. For a loan deal to be feasible for Milan, Rashford’s hefty salary would need to be substantially subsidized.
