Manchester United has extended Amad Diallo’s stay at Old Trafford until June 2030 with the signing of a new five-year deal. This summer would have seen the 22-year-old Ivory Coast winger, who has emerged as a key member under manager Ruben Amorim, become a free agent.

Amad signs an extension to his contract which sees him stay at the club until 2030.

Diallo has made 50 appearances and scored nine goals since moving to United from Atalanta in 2021 for £19 million plus an extra £18.2 million in add-ons. “I have had some incredible moments with this club already, but there is so much more to come,” Diallo said, expressing his satisfaction in the new contract. I want to make history at Manchester United, and I have high goals for the game.

The winger thanked the coaches, staff, and supporters for their support as he looked back on his journey since joining the team at the age of 18. Despite acknowledging the difficulties of the current campaign, he was optimistic about the team’s prospects.

United’s technical director Jason Wilcox commended Diallo’s growth, emphasizing his talent, adaptability, and tenacity as critical components of the team’s future success. He went on to say, “He has the best years of his career ahead of him.”

With little games in his first three seasons and a patchy loan stint at Rangers, Diallo’s early days at United were difficult. He did, however, perform exceptionally well while on loan at Sunderland in the 2022–2023 campaign, with 14 goals in 42 games. He experienced early injury setbacks after rejoining United, but he eventually started to play more frequently, which led to a thrilling last-minute victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Despite United’s difficulties, Diallo has already produced six goals and seven assists this season. Playing every game since the manager’s hiring and adjusting effectively to the team’s 3-4-3 formation, he has emerged as Amorim’s favorite.

“He is really big in talent, but small in size,” Amorim said, praising Diallo’s skill but pointing out opportunities for development, especially in physical conditioning. He underlined that in order for Diallo to realize his full potential, he must keep improving.
