Liverpool reportedly “started talks” with Nurnberg forward Stefanos Tzimas, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Reds are linked with January and summer signings as Arne Slot eyes squad reinforcements. Still, new arrivals this month seem unlikely with Slot seemingly content with his current roster.
On X, Plettenberg shared Liverpool began discussions with Nurnberg about signing 19-year-old Tzimas, a top Greek talent also attracting other Premier League clubs:
“Liverpool have held talks with Nurnberg about Stefanos Tzimas joining in the summer. A phone call occurred days ago, and LFC contacted his camp.
“The 19-year-old striker is seen as one of Greece’s brightest talents, with 8 goals this season at Nurnberg. The club plans to use their €18m buy option to sell him for €25m + add-ons in summer. Chelsea, Brighton, Aston Villa, and Bundesliga teams have expressed interest.”
Tzimas has impressed, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists in 15 games for Nurnberg. On loan from PAOK, the club aims to sign him outright before selling. With 16 goals in 32 caps for Greece across various age levels, Tzimas has been lauded for his pace, power, finishing, and bravery by scout Jacek Kulig, who praised Greece’s attacking future led by him and Kostoulas.
Liverpool must plan for their long-term forward line as Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez, both 25, are their youngest attacking options. As a centre-forward, Tzimas might even surpass Nunez eventually, given uncertainties over the Uruguayan’s future at Anfield.
