Napoli is reportedly eyeing a move for Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho as they seek to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain after expressing his desire to leave the club. Kvaratskhelia has also attracted interest from Liverpool, heightening the urgency for Napoli to find a suitable replacement.
According to Sport Italia, Napoli manager Antonio Conte has identified Garnacho as his top choice to fill the void left by Kvaratskhelia. Manchester United has already set an asking price, with reports suggesting that Garnacho could be available for €50 million (£42 million). The 20-year-old has seen limited playing time under new boss Ruben Amorim, having been benched for the last five matches, including the recent victory over Manchester City.
United is reportedly open to offers for nearly all their players, including previously considered untouchables like Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho. The club is under pressure to generate income to comply with the Premier League’s strict profit and sustainability rules, which favor homegrown talent significantly in terms of valuation. This has led to a surge in Garnacho’s market value, making it hard for United to disregard substantial offers.
While the club would prefer to retain both Garnacho and Mainoo, they might lean towards selling Garnacho, especially with Marcus Rashford likely to leave this month. Garnacho has struggled to adapt to Amorim’s 3-4-3 system and hasn’t started a match since early December.
Despite the transfer speculation, Amorim has expressed a desire to keep Garnacho, praising his talent. “I love my players. I want to keep my players, especially the talented ones,” he said. He emphasized the importance of maintaining their best players for the club’s future, noting that he is happy with Garnacho and Mainoo’s progress.
Currently, the only United players considered untouchable are Leny Yoro, who was signed for £59 million in the summer, and Amad Diallo, who recently secured a new contract.
