Zion Suzuki, a highly regarded teenage goalkeeper for Parma, is supposedly being pursued by Manchester United. Instead, Suzuki had a breakthrough season in the Belgian Pro League last season after moving on loan from Urawa Red Diamonds to Sint-Truiden.
As a result, Parma gambled on the young Japanese goalkeeper, purchasing him from Sint-Truiden for €7.5 million (£6.3 million) just after the Belgian team activated a loan-to-buy clause for a fraction of the asking price.
Since then, Suzuki has taken over the top post at Stadio Ennio Tardini in an attempt to follow in the footsteps of former Parma star Gianluigi Buffon.
The 22-year-old missed Parma’s loss to Udinese due to suspension, but he has started all but one of the team’s Serie A games this season.
According to talkSPORT, Man United is willing to reenter the Suzuki market, but the asking price may be as high as £40 million.
