Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that the team will once again rely on Amad Diallo for their upcoming match against Brighton, following the young forward’s impressive late performance in the comeback victory over Southampton. Amad scored a remarkable 12-minute hat-trick, rescuing United from the brink of a fourth straight home defeat, a feat not seen in over 80 years.
In his post-match press conference, Amorim acknowledged Amad’s contributions but emphasized the need for the player to focus on the next challenge. He stated, āI didnāt say anything. I will tell him tomorrow he has to rest, eat good food, prepare for Sunday ā we need him again.ā Amorim praised Amadās achievement but reminded him that the past is behind them and preparation for the next game is crucial.
Addressing the team’s overall performance, Amorim remarked on the challenges they faced, especially after recent losses to Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Nottingham Forest. He expressed optimism, saying, āYou always believe. I have to believe, but with the chance Antony misses, you have that feelingā¦ letās go again.ā Despite acknowledging the lack of a strong performance, he felt the team deserved the win based on the opportunities created.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was present at the match and had a brief conversation with Amorim about various aspects of the game. Amorim noted, āIt was not a good game but in the end the result helped the conversation.ā He recognized the fans’ desire for improved football but reiterated the importance of winning games to buy time for the team to develop.
As United prepares for the match against Brighton, all eyes will be on Amad to see if he can replicate his recent heroics.
