PLACEMENT: Man City reach verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt over £67m deal for striker Omar Marmoush – with January spending spree far from done

Manchester City have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign in-form forward Omar Marmoush.

The Premier League champions had already settled personal terms with the 25-year-old Egyptian international and are now set to finalize his £67 million transfer. Marmoush is currently the Bundesliga’s second-top scorer behind Harry Kane, with 15 goals, and has netted 20 in all competitions.

Mail Sport previously revealed City’s interest in Marmoush last month as Pep Guardiola sought to ease the workload on Erling Haaland following Julian Alvarez’s summer departure to Atletico Madrid.

In addition to Marmoush, City are finalizing the £33.5 million signing of Uzbek center-back Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens, and have also agreed on a £29.4 million deal with Palmeiras for center-half Vitor Reis.

Twenty-year-old Khusanov will sign a four-and-a-half year deal with the option of an extension.

Reis will also join City immediately rather than stay with Palmeiras until after the Club World Cup as initially intended.

City had originally hoped to land Marmoush for around £40m but Frankfurt have been insistent that they want a premium because it is the January window and they need to find a replacement.

Provided all the deals get over the line, it will represent a £102.9m outlay for City so far, a clear statement of how urgently they want to turn around the season.

This may not represent the end of their foray into the transfer market, though.

City intend to add another midfielder to their squad.
