BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: Man United’s £86m flop Antony is finally set to get his move away to end Old Trafford nightmare… with the Brazilian winger on the verge of joining 11th-place LaLiga side on loan after breakthrough in talks

Real Betis are nearing an agreement with Manchester United for a subsidized loan deal for Antony, according to Mail Sport.

The Brazilian winger, who has yet to start a league game this season but has appeared off the bench under Ruben Amorim, is set to join Betis following productive financial discussions on Saturday.

The loan, running until June 2025 with no buy option, will see United cover a portion of Antony’s substantial £200,000 weekly wages. Earlier this month, Olympiacos showed interest in signing Antony on loan, but the player reportedly declined the move to the Greek club.

Erik ten Hag made Antony, his former charge at Ajax, one of his first signings in 2022 in a mega £86million move, but things have not gone to plan.

Across seven Premier League appearances this season, he has logged just 129 minutes and has netted once in all competitions – a penalty in an EFL Cup game against Barnsley.

He has not scored in the league since April 2024 and has put up less than impressive numbers at United.

In 95 games, he has managed just 12 goals, meaning United have, so far, paid just over £7m for each goal Antony has scored since his arrival.

He has accrued over £25m in wages since August 2022, meaning he has, on average, earned over £2m each time he has bagged for the Red Devils.

Antony is not the only star who could leave Old Trafford this month. Borussia Dortmund are pushing to convince Marcus Rashford to join them on loan.

The England international’s brothers have also held further talks with AC Milan and Barcelona.

Last season, Dortmund secured a short-term loan for Jadon Sancho after he, similarly, fell out of favour with Red Devils chiefs.

Erik ten Hag signed Antony for £86m in 2022, making him United's second-most expensive signing in club history, behind Paul Pogba, who was signed for £89m in 2016

United ideally want to sell Rashford for £40million and that figure plus his wages of over £325,000-a-week are the major stumbling block.

They will consider loans with obligation to buy offers and a number of clubs have expressed interest.

Rashford has turned down approaches from Saudi Arabia and wants to remain in Europe to further his England career.
