After spotting the Dane as a target, Amorim acted swiftly to sign him, reaching an agreement with Serie A team Lecce for £29 million.

Following Friday night’s match against Parma, Dorgu bid his Lecce teammates farewell.

On Saturday morning, he was seen at Milan airport before a journey to Manchester and what appeared to be an impending medical with the Red Devils.

The 20-year-old also disclosed that he is eager to join the Premier League’s biggest teams.

When questioned by Sky Italia if he was thrilled about the move to Old Trafford as he was entering the airport, he responded, “It’s an opportunity for me.”

Dorgu was not used as a substitute despite being in the Lecce matchday squad for their 3-1 victory over Parma.

After the final whistle, he gave his teammates hugs and thanked the traveling fans.

After the final whistle, Marco Giampaolo, the manager of Lecce, was full of praise for the full-back.

“I believe Dorgu will be in Manchester tomorrow,” he stated.

He gave us everything he had, and he’s a wonderful boy.

“You have this chance at the age of 20, but perhaps you have other ideas.

“I didn’t think it was appropriate to force him to play for Lecce or for himself.

“If I needed him, I would have used him, I thought about it but the temptation was brief.”

In the summer of 2022, Dorgu left Danish team Nordsjaelland to join Lecce.

Five goals and two assists have been recorded in his 57 outings for the Italians.
