After a lackluster two and a half seasons at Old Trafford, the Brazil international has joined the La Liga team for the remainder of the season.

 

Despite a rather promising start, the 24-year-old never lived up to the £82 million he paid to join the Red Devils from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

 

The winger scored 12 goals in 96 games across all competitions for Manchester United, but under Ruben Amorim, he was no longer considered and seized the opportunity to sign a loan deal with Real Betis in January.

He started the La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao and promptly recorded an assist as Isco poked home his saved shot, indicating that things are going well for him in Spain.

The game ended 2-2, with the home team feeling rather let down after taking the lead twice and losing it twice.

 

But Antony had a good start, winning the La Liga MVP award and being voted Player of the Match.

After the game, Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini gave his new recruit a lot of praise while also giving him some tips on how to avoid playing too much.

“Well,” the former Manchester City manager added, “I think it was a very positive debut.” He is an excellent player.

Just before the game, I spoke with him. A competent player, in my opinion, doesn’t need to be continually showcasing his ball skills. He must perform well, commit minimal errors, and accomplish two or three crucial tasks: scoring a goal, making a nice pass, and making a decent cross.

He was really involved today, in my opinion, particularly with the second goal. He had only been here a few days prior, but I have a feeling he will be a big help to us.
