Kevin Danso of Tottenham was left in a bleeding heap after Marcus Rashford quickly made his mark in an Aston Villa shirt.
The Manchester United loanee entered the game late in Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round match between Villa and Spurs.
With the home team ahead 2-0, Rashford, 27, took Donyell Malen’s place shortly after the hour.
When the England striker joined from United till the rest of the season, the home crowd welcomed him like a hero.
Shortly after onto the pitch, the 27-year-old seemed energized as he tried to win a header against Danso.
Due to what appeared to be an unintentional elbow from Rashford, Danso ended up second-best.
The £21 million Austrian had to undergo extensive treatment as a result of the challenge because of blood gushing from a laceration on his forehead.
“He’s here for blood in this Rashford redemption arc!” yelled one X fan. figuratively. Up the Villa.
“I love him,” remarked another, “I won a header and smashed Danso already.”
The new manager of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim, barred Rashford from the team.
In December, the forward made it clear that he was prepared for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford.
In addition to paying 75% of his salary, Villa will have the option to extend his loan for a total of £40 million in the summer.
After his transfer was confirmed last week, Rashford thanked Red Devils supporters in a brief statement.
He wrote: “I want to express my gratitude to Aston Villa and Manchester United for facilitating this loan agreement.
“I was fortunate to receive approaches from a few clubs, but choosing Aston Villa was simple.
“Aston Villa’s performance this season and the managers’ goals are truly admirable.
“All I want to do is play football, and I can’t wait to start.
“I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best for the rest of the season.”
In the Midlands, a late goal from Mathys Tel put Villa behind.
However, for the first time in ten years, Unai Emery’s team managed to hold on and secure a spot in the fifth round.
And if Spurs want to break their lengthy trophy drought, they now need to win the Europa League.
