The last few minutes of Manchester United’s loss to Tottenham saw Ruben Amorim give his senior debut to Chido Obi, an intriguing young striker. Ruben Amorim only used the 17-year-old as a substitute in Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham.
Due to United’s injury issue this week, Amorim was without several players, including Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo.
Victor Lindelof was the sole senior player on the bench against Spurs, as seven academy players were substituted.
Chido Obi, who joined from Arsenal in the summer and has been playing brilliantly for United’s youth, was one of them. Obi replaced Casemiro as the Red Devils attempted to equalize in injury time.
After making his Manchester United debut, Chido Obi thanks Ruben Amorim.
Obi netted a hat-trick in United’s 5-1 FA Youth Cup victory over Chelsea just three days ago.
Obi’s dominance in youth football made it seem inevitable that he would make his debut this season. He was prepared to take charge, and Amorim obviously thinks he is.
Obi thanked the club and Amorim on Instagram a few hours after making his debut for the chance.
