YouTube superstar-turned-secret “agent” Chunkz attempted to convince Alexander Isak to join Arsenal but ultimately blew his mission.
The social media sensation visited Newcastle’s training ground this week, sharing several snaps with the team. Chunkz, who has over 4.5 million followers on Instagram, posed alongside Toon players Will Osula, Bruno Guimarães, and Swedish striker Isak. He even shared a photo of himself next to Isak, giving a thumbs-up while holding a signed shirt.
As a proud Arsenal fan, Chunkz, who turns 25 tomorrow, revealed he used the opportunity to try to persuade Isak to join the Gunners, who have long admired the goal-getter. However, despite his efforts, it appears it was a failed mission.
In a playful post while traveling on a train, Chunkz joked, “Agent Chunkz in action,” and claimed a transfer to Arsenal was “imminent.” He quickly followed up with a laughing emoji, saying, “Just joking, he said he loves Newcastle. I tried tho.”
Speculation about Arsenal’s pursuit of Isak will likely intensify once the summer transfer window reopens. However, Newcastle has no intention of selling their star player, as they aim to build a team around him. Isak has already scored 19 goals this season and is determined to help end Newcastle’s 70-year major trophy drought in the upcoming Carabao Cup Final against Liverpool.
Newcastle is under no pressure to sell, with Isak tied to a contract worth approximately £130,000-a-week until 2028. Although initial talks for an improved extension stalled late last year, further discussions are expected after the season concludes.
Chunkz’s move may further frustrate the Toon Army, who are growing weary of pundits suggesting their talisman could be heading to other clubs.
