Liverpool fans are speculating that Mo Salah may be hinting at leaving Anfield at the season’s end, following what seemed like a farewell message in a recent interview.

Salah has netted 30 goals and provided 21 assists this season, showcasing impressive stats. However, he is set to be a free agent this summer, with no agreement reached yet.

While Liverpool aims to extend his contract, negotiations have stalled. Salah has publicly expressed his desire to stay.

In an interview with TNT Sports, he discussed how he wishes to be remembered by the club’s supporters.

“I want fans to remember that I gave it all to the fans, I gave it all to the city. I was here, I wasn’t lazy; I just enjoyed my football and gave it my all.”

He added, “I just want them to remember that I was here for eight years and I gave it all.”

Many Liverpool fans felt uneasy after his comments, interpreting them as a potential goodbye. One fan wrote, “Ouch, this sounds like a goodbye,” while another remarked, “all this looks like a farewell message. Mo, please don’t break my heart.”

Despite the speculation, Salah did not provide a clear update on his future or contract discussions.

“No news,” he stated politely. “I’m just thinking about the Premier League, and we’ll see at the end of the season.”

Salah contributed a goal and an assist in Liverpool’s recent victory over Man City, further solidifying their lead at the top of the Premier League. This win came after second-placed Arsenal’s defeat to West Ham, creating an 11-point gap between the teams, although Arsenal has a game in hand.

At 32, Salah is among Liverpool’s greatest players, tallying an impressive 241 goals in 387 appearances since joining from Roma in 2017 for around £36.5 million.

He has captured eight trophies with Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League. There have been ongoing rumors about a move to the Saudi Pro League, and Liverpool may be unable to retain him if he chooses to go.

Manager Arne Slot humorously noted that Salah’s outstanding form complicates contract negotiations.

“You can look at it in both ways,” the Reds boss said. “The better he does, the more expensive he might become. If he performed poorly, we might reconsider extending his contract.”

He concluded, “For everyone, it’s best that he continues to perform well. If you want to play at this club, you need to be at his level.”
